Chinese Takeaway Style Soy & Honey Chicken

Ingredienser

8–9 boneless, skinless chicken thighs

Chilli powder, salt, black pepper, garlic granules (for seasoning)

For the Sauce:

A little oil

3–4 crushed garlic cloves

1 tbsp ground ginger

200ml water

3 tbsp dark soy sauce

2 tbsp honey

1 tbsp sesame oil

Cornflour slurry (1 heaped tbsp cornflour mixed with 30ml cold water)

Optional Garnish: Sesame seeds, fresh chives

Vejledning

Season the chicken thighs with a dusting of chilli powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic granules. Sear them in a hot pan, cooking each side for 5–7 minutes until fully cooked, then slice and set aside. In the same pan, heat a bit more oil and sauté the garlic and ginger for a few minutes. Add water to deglaze the pan, then stir in dark soy sauce and honey. Combine well before mixing in the cornflour slurry, stirring until the sauce thickens, and add sesame oil. Adjust with a bit more water if needed. Return the chicken to the pan, coat well in the sauce, and simmer briefly. Garnish with sesame seeds and fresh chives, if desired.
