Grandma Adams’ Christmas Tree Cookies

Ainekset

1 cup shortening

3/4 cup sugar

1 egg

2 1/4 cups sifted flour

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon almond extract

Green food coloring

Ohjeet

1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

2. Cream shortening, adding sugar in gradually.

3. Add unbeaten egg, sifted dry ingredients, flavoring and a few drops of food coloring. Mix well. (NOTE: you must sift the flour first and then measure or you will add too much flour and the dough will be too stiff!).

4. Fill cookie press. Form cookies on ungreased cookie sheets using the tree plate.

5. Decorate with tiny multi-colored sprinkles.

6. Bake at 375°F for 5 minutes.

7. Cool just slightly and remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. (If you wait too long, they will break when you try to move them.).
