Easy Chicken Chow Mein

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cups sliced Chinese cabbage
3 cups thinly sliced celery
1 can (Ilb.) bean sprouts, drained
1 can (4 oz.) water chestnuts, sliced
2 tsp. sugar
2 cups chicken broth or water
2 1/2 T. cornstarch !/4 cup water
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 cups sliced cooked chicken,- port, or veal, cut in thin sliv-
ers
Chow mien noodles
Instructions
• Heat oil, salt, and pepper in deep skillet, Add cabbage, cel- ery, bean sprouts, water chest- nuts, and sugar. Stir in chicken broth; cook about 10 minutes.
• Mix cornstarch, water, and soy sauce; add to vegetable mix- ture. Stir until mixture thick-
ens. Add meat and heat through. Serve over hot chow
mien noodles.
