Holiday Pecan Crunch

1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups whole pecans
Instructions
Combine all ingredients except pecans in a large saucepan. Cook on high, covered, until mixture begins to boil. Remove lid and stir until mixture caramelizes. Remove from heat, add pecans, and spread in a 12x13 pan. Cool and break into pieces.
