Vanilla (or Danish) Fudge

1 1/2 cubes butter (not margarine)
1 lb brown sugar
2/3 cup canned milk
1 lb powdered sugar, minus 1/4 cup
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup broken nuts
Instructions
In a heavy pan, melt butter, add brown sugar and milk, and stir. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes. Remove pan from heat and cool for 2 minutes. Add powdered sugar and beat with a mixer until well blended. Add vanilla and nuts and spread into a buttered 12" x 8" dish.
