Thanksgiving Peas

6 slices of bacon
3 cups finely shredded lettuce
6 green onions, sliced (include green tops)
3 tbsp flour
3 10-oz pkgs of frozen peas
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
5 oz water chestnuts
1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
Cut bacon into 1/2" pieces, fry until crisp. Drain off grease and add in lettuce and onions, cooking one minute. Stir in flour, and add chicken broth, stirring until thick. Add peas, chestnuts and salt, and simmer 5 minutes (if peas are thawed slightly--otherwise it will take a bit longer if the peas are still frozen).
