Mom’s Chocolate Cake

For the cake
1 2/3 cups flour
1.5 cups sugar
2.3 cup cocoa
1.5 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1.5 cups buttermilk
½ cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
For the frosting
¼ cup cocoa
¼ cup milk
¼ cup Crisco
¾ cup sugar
1 cup powder sugar
Instructions
DIRECTIONS
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Grease and flour 13x9 pan.
3. Beat all ingredients in a large mixers bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, for about 3 seconds. Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, for three minutes.
4. Pour into pan.
5. Bake 35-40 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
6. Combine the first four frosting ingredients in a small pot and boil for one minute. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar, then pour over cake and let cool.
