Raisin Biscuits

2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup buttermilk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450°F. Cut in shortening, add buttermilk slightly. Mix until pliable. Knead 20 to 25 times. Add butter and sugar, knead in 5 times. Roll out and cut into 1/2-inch high biscuits. Place on baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden.
Notes
Glaze: Mix 1/2 cup powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and put a little butter on top.
