Ginger Cream Cookies

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups sifted enriched flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Confectioners Icing:
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons water
Instructions
1. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses. Stir in dry ingredients alternately with water.
2. Drop from a teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
3. Bake in 400 degree oven about 8 minutes.
4. Remove from fire rack and frost while slightly warm.
