Easy Calzones
-
portions-
temps totalIngrédients
1 loaf of frozen bread dough, defrosted (white or wheat)
Frozen vegetables, slightly defrosted (e.g., broccoli, zucchini-sliced, and cauliflower)
Sliced pepperoni
Sliced mozzarella cheese
Spaghetti sauce (we use Prego)
Instructions
Split dough in half and press out each half flat on a large cookie sheet that has been sprayed with non-stick spray. You can do both calzones on one pan. Pile in the center of each calzone, but slightly to one side: sauce, cheese, vegetables, and meat, making sure to leave room on the edges to seal closed. Fold dough over filling and pinch the edges closed tightly, like a big turnover.
Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Serve with heated spaghetti sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
Variations: Add cooked sausage, pastrami, or any other meat you would like for a meatier calzone. Or if you’re not a meat fan, omit all meat and use more vegetables. Be creative and use what you like.
