Pecan Crunch

1 cup butter (2 cubes)
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups pecans
Instructions
Combine all ingredients except nuts in a heavy pan. Cook on high, covered, until mixture begins to boil. Remove lid and stir constantly with a wooden spoon until caramel colored. Remove from heat and add pecans. Pour onto a flat 12" x 13" pan and spread with a knife into a thin layer. Cool and break into pieces.
