Diane's Alfredo Sauce

Ingrédients

1 cup butter

6 tablespoons cream cheese, light is OK

1 pint whipping cream

1 pint half and half

1 1/2 cups Parmesan cheese, grated garlic salt, to taste cayenne pepper, to taste black pepper, to taste

4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, grilled

Instructions

Melt the butter; stir in remaining 3 ingredients. Cook on low until big bubbles form and the Cream cheese has melted and mixed well. Be sure to stir often.

Add 3/4 cup grated Parmesan or a little more to suit your taste.

Now here's the tricky part: add garlic salt, red cayenne pepper and black pepper to taste. The tricky part is that I never make it the same way twice so I can't tell you how much of any of these to mix in, just taste and add, taste and add, etc. Be careful not to get too much red pepper or you'll have pink sauce.

Be careful about the garlic salt with the parmesan because sometimes it can get too salty. I have added garlic powder in lieu to resolve the salty issue.

Serve over fettuccini or bow tie pasta with grilled chicken.
