Peanut Brittle (Stove Top Recipe)

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup water
1 cup salted peanuts
2 tbsp butter or margarine, softened
1 tsp baking soda
Greased large cookie sheet
Instructions
In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat to boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar. Stir in peanuts, and cook to 300 degrees (hard crack stage). Remove from heat, immediately stir in soda, and spread thin on cookie sheet. Break into pieces when cool.
