Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich

4 chicken thighs or breasts
1 cup buttermilk + 1 tbsp hot sauce
2 cups seasoned flour (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt & pepper)
Oil for frying
Hot Sauce:
1/2 cup hot frying oil
2 tbsp cayenne, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp each paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, salt
Ranch Dressing:
1 cup mayo, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup buttermilk, garlic, fresh herbs (dill, parsley, chives), salt & pepper
Fremgangsmåte
Marinate chicken in buttermilk and hot sauce (2+ hours).
Coat chicken: flour > buttermilk > flour (double dip).
Fry at 350°F for 10-12 minutes, golden and crispy.
Mix hot sauce ingredients, toss fried chicken in sauce.
Assemble: toasted buns, pickles, lettuce, ranch, chicken.
Pro Tip: For an extra crispy crust, let the coated chicken rest on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes before frying—this helps the breading stick better during cooking!
