Make-ahead Cinnamon French Toast Bake

French Toast-

Package of Hawaiian bread (16 ounces)

2 cups of dairy milk

5 eggs

5 tbsp of butter, divided into 1 tbsp + 4 tbsp

1 tsp Cinnamon

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 tsp of vanilla extract

Topping-

4 tbsp butter

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup Maple syrup

1/2 cup of walnuts, chopped

Instructies

If baking right away, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roughly tear apart bread into 1-1.5 inch piece and place into a 9×13 baking dish that’s been greased with 1 tbsp salted butter. Set aside.

Whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, sugar, cinnamon, salt and vanilla extra.

Pour milk mixture over bread, and press down using a wooden spoon to absorb.

Mix together the remaining butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup, then add walnuts.

Scatter walnut butter mixture over bread.

Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes , until bread has browned and walnuts are toasted. If you need to broil for a minute or two to get some color on the top, feel free to do that. Allow to set after removing from the oven for 10-15 minutes, then serve immediately with warm maple syrup!

If baking next day, wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate. When ready go bake, preheat to 350 and take the French toast out of the fridge while it preheats, then bake for 50-60 minutes, keeping a close eye.
