Bacon Wrapped Dates

Ingredients

36 dates, pitted

12 oz bacon, each strip cut into thirds

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

2 tbsp finely chopped chives

1/4 cup maple syrup, slightly warmed for brushing

Directions

Preheat oven to 425F.

Combine cream cheese and chives in a small bowl. Gently slice into each date separating the halves (but keeping opposite side intact, essentially you are butterflying the date)

Scoop cream cheese using a small spoon into the center of each date and squish date halves back together. Repeat with all the dates.

Take a small strip of bacon and wrap it around each date, securing it with a toothpick if needed. Place on a foil lined baking sheet. Brush each date with warm maple syrup and bake for 10 minutes. Turn dates over and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until bacon is browned and crispy.

Remove from baking sheet and enjoy warm (or at room temperature).
