1 shot espresso (or 1/2 cup of very strong brewed coffee)
1 oz bourbon (choose your favorite, such as Woodford Reserve or Bulleit)
1 oz maple syrup (use pure maple syrup for the best flavor)
A pinch of cinnamon (optional, for extra spice)
Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Maple sugar or cinnamon stick (optional, for garnish)
Directions
Brew the Espresso:
Brew a fresh shot of espresso using your espresso machine, or prepare a strong coffee if you don’t have an espresso machine.
Add the Bourbon and Maple Syrup:
In a mixing glass or mug, combine the bourbon and maple syrup. Stir gently to combine, ensuring the syrup dissolves fully into the alcohol.
Combine with Espresso:
Pour the brewed espresso into the bourbon-maple mixture. Stir well to incorporate the flavors.
Optional Cinnamon Touch:
For a little extra spice, add a pinch of cinnamon to the drink and stir it in.
Optional Whipped Cream:
Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream if you prefer a creamy, indulgent touch. This makes the drink even smoother and adds a luxurious texture.
Garnish:
If desired, garnish with a sprinkle of maple sugar or a cinnamon stick for added flavor and an elegant touch.
Serve and Enjoy:
Serve immediately while warm, and enjoy the deep flavors of coffee, bourbon, and maple in each sip!
Variations:
Iced Maple Bourbon Espresso: For a cool twist, pour the coffee mixture over ice for a refreshing take on this warm drink.
Maple Bourbon Espresso Martini: Shake the espresso, bourbon, and maple syrup with ice, strain into a martini glass, and garnish with a twist of orange peel for a cocktail version.
Perfect Pairing:
This drink pairs wonderfully with rich desserts like chocolate tarts, cheesecake, or pecan pie. The natural sweetness of maple complements the bitter espresso and the warmth of bourbon, creating a perfect balance.
