Ingredients

½ cup ice cubes

2 ounces (¼ cup) silver tequila

1 ounce (2 tablespoons) fresh lime juice

½ ounce (1 tablespoon) lavender syrup

½ ounce (1 tablespoon) Bols Triple Sec

3 to 4 dashes lavender bitters

Edible lavender buds, optional

Directions

In a cocktail shaker, combine the ice, tequila, lime juice, lavender syrup, triple sec, and bitters. Cover and shake vigorously for 4 seconds. Pour the ingredients, including the ice, into a rocks glass. Garnish with the lavender buds, if using.

Notes

This is a very Los Angeles spin on the margarita. Some people might associate lavender with exotic locales in the South of France, but the fragrant flower almost grows wild in front yards and on parkways in Los Angeles. We double the lavender flavoring here by using both lavender syrup and lavender bitters. You can easily buy Torani lavender syrup online, as well as any number of brands of lavender bitters. If you want to make this drink even more Angeleno, use the Greenbar Distillery’s Bar Keep lavender bitters, which are organic and are made in downtown L.A.
