Dolly's Smoky Mountain Salad

Ingredients

8 cups salad mix, chopped iceberg and romaine lettuce

2 tomatoes, cored and quartered

1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 ounces (8 ounces?))

1 cup croutons

1 skinless, boneless chicken breast, grilled or poached and thinly sliced

1/4 cup thinly sliced country ham, grilled

4 slices bacon, fried until crisp and drained

1 (2.8-ounce) can fried onions

Salt and pepper

1/4 cup Sour Cream Dressing

Directions

Mound the lettuce in a large, chilled salad bowl and arrange the tomatoes, cheese, and croutons on top.

Arrange the chicken and ham over the tomatoes. Lay the bacon strips over the meat and top with the fried onions.

Season with salt and pepper. Serve the Sour Cream Dressing on the side.

Notes

Dolly says: "...or the Kitchen Sink Salad, as I sometimes call it. When there's nothing to eat, I toss a little bit of this and a little bit of that with iceberg and romaine and usually end up with this salad because I always have bacon and ham in my refrigerator. This is a full meal, but a little cornbread on the side wouldn't hurt. I always chill an empty salad bowl before putting the ingredients into it."
