Molly's Tomato-Basil Soup

1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
1/2 package onion soup mix (preferably Lipton's)
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
2 (10.75-ounce) cans condensed tomato soup
1 pint heavy cream
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
Combine the tomatoes, soup mix, and basil with 2 cups of water in a large soup pot and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to medium, stir in the tomato soup, and return to a low boil.
Add the heavy cream and the sugar and cook until heated through.
Season with salt and serve.

Dolly says: "Molly Robinson is one of my favorite family friends. She's one of my favorite cooks, too. I hardly ever leave town on my bus without some of Molly's 'magic' first. This soup is one that I'm always hopin' she makes for me, along with her Ham Quiche."
