Cola Barbecue Sauce

• servings: 1.5 cups

Ingredients

1 tablespoon butter

1 small onion, minced

1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger

1 garlic clove, minced

3/4 cup cola

3/4 cup ketchup

1/2 teaspoon grated lemon zest

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons bottled steak sauce

1/2 teaspoon pepper

Salt

Directions

Melt the butter in a small pot over medium heat.

Add the onion, ginger, and garlic and sauté until fragrant.

Add the cola, ketchup, lemon zest, lemon juice, Worcestershire, steak sauce, and pepper.

Simmer for 15 minutes. Season to taste with salt.

The sauce will keep for 1 week in a container with a tight-fitting lid.
