Ingredients

I posted these in my stories last week and got soooo many questions about the recipe. If you make one dessert of mine, make these. Inspired by one of the best desserts of all time, baklava, these are classic brown butter Rice Krispies treats (I always use the @nytimes recipe) amped up with orange blossom water, lots of cinnamon, and chopped walnuts and pistachios. I actually can’t describe how good these are. So easy to make and so hard to resist – every time I’d open the fridge for a bite I’d end up eating two or three slices at a time. And all that yummy, warming cinnamon makes them a perfect fall treat.

2 sticks (8 oz) butter

2 10-oz bags marshmallows

1-1.5 tbsp orange blossom water (depending on how floral you like it – I like lots. You can also use rose water or half rose, half orange blossom)

1 tsp cinnamon

A sprinkle of sea salt, if using unsalted butter

1/3 cup pistachios, chopped

1 cup walnuts, chopped

8 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Directions

Melt the butter over medium low heat, then continue to cook until it smells nutty and is beautifully browned. Add in your marshmallow and stir until they’re all melted. Turn off the heat and add salt if using, orange blossom water, and cinnamon, and stir until combined. Add chopped nuts and cereal and stir until all of the cereal is well coated. Transfer to a parchment paper-lined baking dish and press into an even layer. Let set for at least an hour. Cut into squares and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
