Ingredients

2 large sweet onions

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup flour

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cooking spray

Dipping sauce of choice

Directions

Peel the onions and cut off the tops. Cut each onion into 8 wedges, being careful not to cut all the way through to keep the base intact.

Place the onions in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Remove the onions from the buttermilk and coat them in the flour mixture, pressing the mixture into the petals to ensure they are well coated.

Spray the onions with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket.

Cook the onions for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even browning.

Serve the mini blooming onions hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
