1 pound dry ziti pasta
1 tablespoon butter
1 onion, chopped
1 pound lean ground beef
2 (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
6 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
1 1/2 cups sour cream
6 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Directions
Brown ground beef and onion in a 12” skillet over medium heat.
Stir in spaghetti sauce and simmer for at least 15 minutes and up to 30 mins.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter a 10x15” baking dish (a 9x13” dish will work but it will be very full — place it on a sheet pan to keep drips/spills from burning to the oven).
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta, and cook until just shy of al dente; drain.
Add sour cream to cooked ziti noodles, and stir well to combine.
Spread half the ziti mixture in the bottom of the prepared dish, top with Provolone, half the meat sauce, remaining ziti mixture, mozzarella cheese, and remaining meat sauce. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake until heated through and cheeses have melted, about 30 minutes.
