Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup shortening

1 cup sugar

1 cup molasses

2 eggs

4 cups flour

1 teaspoon soda

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 teaspoons ginger

2 teaspoons cloves

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon salt

Vanilla Butter Frosting:

1/3 cup soft butter or margarine

3 cups powdered sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

About 2 tablespoons milk

Directions

1. Combine shortening, sugar, molasses, and eggs. Mix together the remaining ingredients and add to the first mixture.

2. Roll out to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters.

3. Bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes. Frost if desired.

Vanilla Butter Frosting:

1. Blend all frosting ingredients until smooth.
