Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies: Soft & Frosted Delight

Ingredients

For the Cookies:

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

For the Frosting:

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-2 tablespoons milk (if needed for consistency)

Pink food coloring (optional)

Directions

Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, beat butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Chill & Bake: Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll dough into balls and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Flatten slightly and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft. Let cool completely.

Prepare the Frosting: Beat butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in vanilla extract. Add milk if needed for consistency. Tint with food coloring if desired.

Frost & Serve: Spread frosting over the cooled cookies and enjoy.
