Green Bean & Mushroom Casserole

1 1b mushrooms, sliced
20 oz green beans
2 small onions, sliced
2 T butter
1.5 - 2 T flour
1 cup milk
Celery salt
1/4 t nutmeg
1 t lemon juice
1/2 t Worcester sauce
1 t Sherry
Brick of cheddar cheese
Potato chips or French fried onions
Instruktioner
Brown mushrooms and onions and cook until onions are just tender. Cook green beans until just tender. Make a cream sauce by melting butter over low heat. Add flour to make a roux. Slowly whisk in milk, and any combination of Celery salt, nutmeg, lemon juice, Worcester sauce and/or Sherry. Simmer and stir the sauce with a wire whisk until it is thickened and smooth. Add cheddar cheese and stir with spoon until melted and nice and thick. Butter a baking dish. Start with a layer of green beans then onion& mushrooms, etc. End with green beans. Pour cheese sauce over. This can be fixed ahead of time. When ready to heat crumble bag of Potato chips or French fried onions on top. Sprinkle with grated parmasan cheese. Heat in moderate oven for about 45 minutes.
