Rommegrot - Agnes Forde's

1 quart milk

1 cup half-and-half

1 cup butter

3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup melted butter

Sugar and cinnamon

Heat milk and half-and-half, stirring often to prevent scorching. In a large heavy pan, melt butter and add flour. Cook about five minutes, stirring constantly with wire whisk. Pour in milk and half-and-half and cook, stirring frequently until mixture bubbles and thickens. Stir in sugar. Pour in bowls and pour melted butter on top. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Rommegrot may be kept warm and served from a crockpot on low. It may be refrigerated and reheated in microwave

Christmas tradition in the Hart house. At the end of dinner, one of the bowls of Rommegrot has an almond hidden in it. Whoever can get correctly the person with the almond wins a prize.
