Black Forest Cake Dip

12 ounces maraschino cherries with stems, drained and divided

1 cup whipped cream , plus more for topping

8 ounces cream cheese , softened

1/2 cup salted butter , softened

2 cups dark chocolate cake mix

2 cups powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

mini chocolate chip cookie , for dipping

Separate out 4-6 cherries for decoration, then set them aside.

For remaining cherries, remove stems and cut cherries into 1/2 or 1/4. In a small bowl, add chopped cherries. Spray whipped cream into bowl, then mix with cherries. Feel free to adjust amount of whipped cream to your liking. Set bowl nearby.

Using a stand mixer (or a hand mixer + large bowl), beat cream cheese and butter on medium-high speed until fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

Stop mixer and dark chocolate cake mix, powdered sugar, and milk to bowl. Begin to mix again, starting out on low speed and gradually increasing to medium-high. Mix until dry ingredients are fully incorporated, about 5-7 minutes. Set dip aside.

To serve dip: Add about 1/2 of dark chocolate cake dip into a serving bowl of your choice. Create a 2-inch well in top of dip. Next, add creamy cherry mix to bowl, filling well. Top cherry mix with remaining dark chocolate cake dip, smoothing out top. Spray more whipped cream on top of dip and then decorate with stemmed cherries.

Serve dip as desired with cookies for dipping.
