200g (7oz) dried orzo
160g (5½0z) broccoli, chopped into small florets
100g (3½oz) full-fat cream cheese or dairy-free cream cheese or thick coconut cream*
1 tbsp garlic-infused olive oil, or regular olive oil mixed with 1 crushed garlic clove
90g (3oz) grated Cheddar or 2 tbsp nutritional yeast* (optional) freshly ground black pepper
Instrucciones
Bring a pan of water to the boil and add the pasta. Cook according to the packet instructions, and add the broccoli florets to the pasta cooking water when there is 5 minutes left of cooking.
Using a mug, scoop out some of the pasta water and set aside.
Drain the pasta and broccoli, and add back into the pan. Add the cream cheese, garlic-infused oil, grated cheese, a good grinding of black pepper and a splash of the reserved cooking water. Give
it a good stir and serve! With this shape of pasta you can either give pre-loaded spoonfuls to baby, spoon-feed them yourself, or let baby get stuck in with their fingers to taste and feel it themselves. As the pasta cools it will clump up a little, making it easier to hold. Store in the fridge for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Defrost and reheat with a splash of water to loosen.
Notas
This cheesy orzo pasta with broccoli is creamy and oozy, and super quick to prepare in under 1o minutes! It is suitable from 6 months, but if serving to babies younger than g months, mash the broccoli pieces before serving to them.
