Ingrédients

1 cup whole red lentils

1 bay leaf

1 tsp ground turmeric

1 tsp kosher salt

3 cups water

2 TBSP fresh lime juice

2 TBSP ghee or olive oil

2 tsp cumin seeds

2 dried chiles

pinch red chile powder

pinch asafetida

Instructions

Combine lentils and spices in instant pot with water.

Pressure cook 20 minutes on high pressure with natural release.

Add lime juice.

Heat ghee until melted then add cumin.

When it sputters, remove from heat and add remaining spices.

Add the seasoning to the dal and mix thoroughly.
