    Crock Pot Hot Fudge Sundae Cake

    1 cup sugar

    4 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

    4 teaspoons baking powder

    1 cup milk

    1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar

    4 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

    Spray a 3-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.

    In a bowl, sift together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup sugar, 4 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 4 teaspoons baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt.

    Then stir in 1 cup milk, 1/4 cup oil and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

    Finally, stir in 1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts) if using.

    Spread batter evenly into your slow cooker.

    In a separate bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar and 4 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder.

    Whisk in 3 cups hot water until smooth.

    Pour evenly over batter in slow cooker. DO NOT STIR.

    Cover and cook on high setting for 2-2 1/2 hours.

    To test if it is done, stick a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean (with no cake batter hanging on it), then it is done.

    Let cake stand, uncovered for 30-40 minutes before serving (this helps to thicken the sauce on the bottom.)
