Mexican Blackening Seasoning

1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon oregano (preferably Mexican)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dark brown sugar
Directions
- If using mexican oregano and it visually does not resemble traditional oregano in size and texture, make sure to grind it in a pestle and mortar first.
- Add the ingredients together in a releasable container such as a mason jar. Shake well before using.
Notes
Used in the Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos, but it also great on other meats such as chicken as well as grilled vegetables.
The ingredient amounts is more about the ratio of each spice to one another rather than a defined amount you will need for any particular dish.
