Mom's Vegetable Soup

2 or 3 meaty beef shanks with bone.
1/8 tsp. pepper
About 6 carrots, diced
About 4-5 stalks of celery, diced
2 or 3 onions, diced
About 5-6 potatoes, diced
About 1 cup peas
About 1 cup green beans
Tomato juice to taste
1 can creamed corn
Beef bouillon or beef base to
taste
About 2 tsp. sugar
Sprinkle of crushed red pepper
1 or 2 cans of Campbell's vege- table beef and barley soup

Directions
• Place meat in stock pot and cover with water. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is ten- der
Remove bones, add pepper, • carrots, string beans, celery, and onions.
Simmer 1 hour and 30 minutes. Add potatoes, peas, tomato juice, and corn, Campbell's soup and crushed pepper. Re- turn cut up meat to pot
This never comes out the same. • These are the basic ingredients so do it by taste.
