Morning Glory Buns

Ingredients

1 1 /2 cups lukewarm water

1 T yeast

2 tsp. salt

3 T brown sugar

3 T shortening- melted

2 cups whole wheat flour

2 cups white flour

Directions

Soften yeast in a bit of warm water. Put salt, sugar and shortening in a large bowl. Add the water, then the 2 cups of whole wheat flour. Add the yeast. Beat well. Add the 2 cups white flour, knead and let rise. Make into buns, let rise and bake. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes.

Notes

I made these buns many times on the farm when you children were growing up. I think I found it in a farm magazine.
