    Ingredients

    2 whole cloves

    cardamom pods

    1/2 cinnamon sticks

    ginger root, About 1 inch piece, sliced

    4 black peppercorns

    2 tsp black tea

    1/2 cup milk

    maple syrup, To taste

    Directions

    Crush all the spices in a mortar and pestle until coarsely ground. Add to a pot with 1.5 cups of water. Crush the ginger in the empty mortar and then add to the pot.

    Bring the pot to a boil and cook for about 7 minutes. Reduce the heat to a low simmer and add the tea. Boil for 5 minutes.

    Add in milk to the pot and maple syrup as sweetener to taste. Return to a simmer so everything is heated through.
