Ingrediente

1 1/2 c dark Karo syrup

2 c sugar

1 c butter or shortening

1 c thick sour cream

1 1/2 t baking soda

2 t vanilla

2 t cinnamon

2 t powdered star anise or 1 t oil of anise

9 c flour

Instrucțiuni

Mix ingredients. Chill in refrigerator. Roll into ropes approx 3/4” thick and slice into 1/4” thick disks. Bake at 350° for 10-12 min.

Simmons Christmas cookie tradition. Grandma Helen Simmons always baked bags of these and we relished them.

This recipe makes a lot of cookies. Consider cutting it in half or third.
